Health Minister Aurelijus Veryga says that it will be proposed that the government commit itself to raising salaries so that in 2020 doctors earn three times the average salary and nurses are paid 1.5 times the average wage.
“There is a proposal to tie wages to the economic situation, rather than to a specific amount of money. If we receive the go-ahead from the prime minister and the finance minister, we’ll be able to sign such an agreement,” he said.
According to Statistics Lithuania, the average gross monthly wage in Lithuania’s economy, excluding sole proprietorships, stood at 850.8 euros in the third quarter.
