“The president turned her attention to the necessity to reduce social exclusion so every person received help, especially the most vulnerable ones: those seeking job or having lost jobs, the sick and the retired. The president emphasises that none should be left to his fate. Here the leadership of the ministry and the minister is of utmost importance, as it is the ministry which has to correct the mistake made by other institutions, other ministries,” said Nerijus Udrėnas, Advisor to President Dalia Grybauskaitė, after the meeting.
According to the presidential advisor, the area of activities for the Ministry of Social Security and Labour is broad; as a result, a number of tasks and objectives are set for Pabedinskienė.
The president underlined the necessity to ensure a life of dignity for pensioners, paying a particular attention to those who receive the lowest pensions. According to Grybauskaitė, working young families should receive support and attention as well. The president also called on the Ministry to make more effort to reduce youth unemployment. According to the president, to achieve these tasks, EU support should be efficiently used.
