“Lithuania strictly opposes any amendments to the EU treaties as they contain all the instruments for close and efficient cooperation – we only need to use them effectively,” Grybauskaitė said in a press release issued during the EU summit in Brussels.

Lithuanian diplomats do not rule out the idea, however, are cautious about the possibility of unifying taxes or advanced defense integration in fears of reducing the role of NATO and US in Europe.
