President Grybauskaitė addresses Polish speakers: I equally love all people of Lithuania

“At this moment, I would not like to give any comments on any laws because we have three or four of them, if not five,” the president said, answering a reporter’s question on the suggestions of the Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania (LLRA) party regarding the Law on Ethnic Minorities.

Grybauskaitė also sent a clear message to the residents of this area, densely populated with ethnic minorities, that they were respected and considered equal part of Lithuania.

“I equally love all people of Lithuania as they all are citizens of Lithuania. I speak languages of all major ethnic minorities; I can speak Polish, Russian or Ukrainian. I speak those languages to pay my regard to all people in Lithuania as Lithuania is one, it is the homeland of these people too,” the president said in Polish and Lithuanian, drawing loud applause from the participants of the festival.
