President Grybauskaitė: Raising defence funding and fighting social exclusion need not be incompatible

“I would like to assure you that nothing will be reduced, everything will be paid on time, the state will indeed deal with challenges. The government has been instructed to reconcile the two parallel tasks,” the president told the national radio LRT on Thursday.

According to the president, currently the priority is to reinstate and increase the reduced pensions, also to increase salaries of the lowest earners in the public sector. Furthermore, the president strongly supports the government’s plans to increase the minimum monthly salary.
