President will award Global Lithuanians

At the event initiated by the Global Lithuanian Leaders for the third year running a number of highly accomplished individuals with years of international experience will be awarded for their contributions to the growth of Lithuania and promotion of the country through their professional activities and achievements.

“For several months, we have actively invited the public in Lithuania and abroad to nominate and assist GLL in discovering new personalities and their success stories. We were happy to receive many responses from people and institutions around the world. All proposed candidates are international professionals connected to Lithuania and helping our country to reach global success with their activities and talents,” – said Kotryna Stankutė-Jaščemskienė, the head of GLL.

This year, there are 30 Awards nominees. Together, they represent global experience of 9 countries: Lithuania, USA, United Kingdom, France, Denmark, Ukraine, China, Hong Kong and Israel.

The nominations and the nominees of the 2014 awards:

For attracting investments and international names to Lithuania: Marius Dundulis, Aurimas Adomavičius and litvak Giora Kaplan.
For exporting unique Lithuanian ideas to the world: “Vinted” founders, “Pixelmator” founders and “Exacaster” founder.
For implementing international innovations: Vladas Algirdas Bumelis, Arnold Rogoznyj, Romualdas Danielius.
For connecting international Lithuanian minds: Jokūbas Žiburkus, Daumantas Matulis, Alminas Žaldokas.
For sharing international experience: Angela Sinickas, Agnia Grigas, John Mack.
For sincere friendship (meant for individuals, who are not of Lithuanian origin, but actively help our country): Edward Lucas, Oleg Pridiuk and Sergej Klimov​, dr.Lars Ohnemus.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania will reward a renowned Lithuanian personality for his or her lifetime achievements.

The Honorees are selected by the Selection Panel consisting of the Global Awards Award Honorees of previous years, GLL patrons and board members, the representatives of GLL partners, and local opinion leaders with international experience. This year the Selected Panel was chaired by investment banker from London Darius Daubaras, and included film-maker Jonas Ohman, social activist Dr. Vladas Lašas, ambassador Gintė Damušytė, HR professional Nijolė Kelpšaitė, social entrepreneur Tadas Langaitis, journalist Edmundas Jakilaitis, scientist and entrepreneur Kristijonas Vizbaras.

The essential criteria for the election are international professional experience, close ties with Lithuania, measurable achievements and efforts contributing to the development of Lithuania in the areas of business, science and culture as well as potential continuity of their activities. The Honorees will receive the statuettes created by sculptor Stasys Žirgulis.

Global Lithuanian Awards are initiated by the network of the Lithuanian professional diaspora Global Lithuanian Leaders together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania, the non-profit organisation Enterprise Lithuania, the ICT company TEO LT and the law firm TARK GRUNTE SUTKIENE. The aim of the GLL network is to involve the professionals who live abroad in a variety of projects in Lithuania and to deploy their experience, connections, and knowledge for the benefit of the country.

GLL, the organisation initiating the awards, acts as a global network of professionals who identify themselves with Lithuania in order to encourage cooperation and create global opportunities for the country. The purpose of the network is to unite efforts and build a strong and competitive Lithuania. GLL carries out the following projects: GLL Business Advisors program implemented in partnership with the non-profit organisation Enterprise Lithuania, LT Big Brother project carried out in partnership with the Lithuanian City of London Club and the Lithuanian Wall Street Club, and the World Lithuanian Economic Forum organised in partnership with the Lithuanian Business Confederation.
