“I sincerely feel sorry for the family that suffered the tragic event. Law enforcement agencies will do their job, but our country‘s institutions need to pre-empt such events. Therefore, I have ordered the Social Security Minister to find out whether her subordinate institutions, the social welfare center and children’s rights department has taken steps to prevent domestic violence.
“The ministry will have to submit information shortly about which institutions and what preventive measures have been taken. The study will show whether the institutions carry out their work properly, how we could improve it so that there would be no more tragedies like that in the family in Saviečiai village,” said Butkevičius.
