Prime minister says Lithuania could accept only up to 40 refugees

According to Butkevičius, Lithuanian Interior Minister Saulius Skvernelis will participate at the Council of the Interior Ministers in Brussels on 16 June. The Council will consider the issue of refugee quotas.

“It is difficult to comment at the moment. We have stated previously that we could accept up to 40 (refugees – ELTA) and we will try to maintain this position. I think more concrete information will be available after 16 June, when the Council of the Interior Ministers adopts a decision. We should see the position of other countries. It is indeed too early to comment today,” the prime minister told the national radio.
