“It is our aim to collect far more than that required by law. Clearly, the public and the political community are ready for the major changes that are needed to solve the problem of alcohol consumption,” Juozas Dapsauskas, coordinator of the initiative, said in a press release on Tuesday.
The activists suggest banning alcohol ads, ensuring that alcoholic beverages can only be sold in specialized stores, and making the legal drinking age higher.
According to the communique, the collection of signatures will continue throughout April.
