Public trust in army and police up in Lithuania

In the November poll, more than half of respondents (54.2 pct) stated confidence in the police, which indicates a rise from 50.5 percent in October. The police is mistrusted by 13.6 percent of those polled (14.1 pct last month).

“The nation has record-high confidence in the police – it has set an all-time record of the evaluation period since 1998,” Vladas Gaidys, the director of the Vilmorus pollster, told the national radio LRT in comment of the survey carried out on Nov. 7-16.

Meanwhile, courts and prosecutors enjoy trust of 23.6 percent and 18.1 percent of respondents, respectively.
