“There was a failure of databases used by border guards at checkpoints between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.,” Giedrius Mišutis, the service’s spokesman, told BNS.
“Checks were temporarily halted and travelers could not cross the Lithuanian border for around two hours,” he added.
The technical problem was fixed and traffic returned to normal by Thursday evening, the spokesman said.
The databases used at border checkpoints are administered by the Information Technology and Communications Department under the Interior Ministry.
Hard drive problems at the department on the same day temporarily disrupted the work of the state car registration company Regitra.
