Retail trade in Lithuania down 1.2 percent in May

The 0.2 pct increase in the volume of retail trade in the euro area in May 2015, compared with April 2015, is due to rises of 0.4 pct for both “Food, drinks and tobacco” and non-food products, while automotive fuel fell by 0.7 pct. In the EU, the 0.3 pct increase in the retail trade volume is due to rises of 0.4 pct for “Food, drinks and tobacco” and of 0.3 pct for non-food products, while automotive fuel fell by 0.6 pct.

Among Member States for which data are available, the highest increases in total retail trade were registered in Poland (+1.5 pct), Estonia (+1.4 pct) and Malta (+1.1 pct), while the largest decreases were observed in Ireland (-2.5 pct), Denmark (-1.4 pct) and Lithuania (-1.2 pct).

The 2.4 pct increase in the volume of retail trade in the euro area in May 2015, compared with May 2014, is due to rises of 3.4 pct for non-food products, of 1.7 pct for “Food, drinks and tobacco” and of 0.7 pct for automotive fuel. In the EU, the 3.0 pct increase in retail trade volume is due to rises of 4.2 pct for non-food products, of 2.0 pct for “Food, drinks and tobacco” and of 1.3 pct for automotive fuel.

Among Member States for which data are available, the highest increases in total retail trade were observed in Poland (+7.6 pct), Estonia (+5.7 pct) and Ireland (+5.6 pct), while decreases were observed in Luxembourg (-10.6 pct), Denmark (-2.4 pct) and Belgium (-1.5 pct).
