Ruling coalition wants social model proposal passed as soon as possible

“As to the social model, the political council again raised the issue, our opinion and position is unified, and the social model should be submitted in time for the spring session. We spoke about labour at the Social Affairs and Labor Committee, and the additional issues raised – the need for information from the Finance Ministry – will be provided this week on Friday. We believe there will be no problems with adopting the laws,” Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius, the leader of the ruling Social Democratic Party, said after the meeting.

“We wish for the committee to complete the procedures as early as possible and submit it for parliamentary discussion. We believe it is a document that is necessary and vital for Lithuania, including its economy, jobs, etc.,” said Labour Party leader Valentinas Mazuronis.
