Ruling Farmer leaders expect SocDem MPs to stand firm on coalition

“Basically, we did not raise that issue (of the Social Democrats staying in the coalition), but judging from our discussion on specific issues on the (Seimas) agenda, there is no ground to say that they might behave otherwise,” Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis said after an unannounced meeting between the LFGU leaders and the Social Democratic MPs.

When asked whether he was worried that the Social Democrats might backtrack, Ramūnas Karbauskis, the LFGU chairman and head of the party’s group in the parliament, said, “There is no such worry.”

Both LFGU leaders said that a reshuffle of posts in the government and in the Seimas had not been discussed at the meeting.
