Ruling party leader expects new parlt investigation commission to be set up

“I’ve no doubt that the investigation will be continued after (the Seimas) approves the conclusions of the (NSGK) investigation,” Ramūnas Karbauskis told reporters on Tuesday.

The LVŽS chairman said that many topics were not covered in the committee’s probe.

“I believe a parliamentary commission would do so. That would be its status,” he said.

NSGK Chairman Vytautas Bakas says that he does not plan to continue the investigation.

He told LRT Radio that he would not head any parliamentary investigation for two years.

Karbauskis said that a new parliamentary instigation, among other things, would focus on politicians’ responsibility.

The NSGK says in its findings that Russia’s energy giant Rosatom and MG Baltic, one of Lithuania’s largest business groups, used non-transparent means to exert influence on politicians and public servants, thus posing a threat to the structure of the state and national security.
