In Lithuania they will participate in a week-long practical training programme during which the best country’s non-formal education specialists will teach self-confidence, critical thinking, leadership qualities and other emotional and social skills and general competencies.
These students are participants of Lithuanian-Ukrainian cooperation project Support to eastern Ukrainian regions affected by the conflict in the field of education: the way to changes.
“Schools that the children are coming from are located in the so called buffer zone, which is not only the most strongly affected by the Russian propaganda, but is often hit by fire,” said Jolanta Markevičienė, representative of Lithuanian Youth Centre which is organizing the stay.
This group of children is the first of the planned five. Two additional school children and two teacher groups from Donetsk and Luhansk areas will visit Lithuania in September and October.
