A group of parliamentarians of the ruling Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union (LFGU) had asked the commission to analyze whether sexual harassment allegations against the conservative lawmaker provided grounds for opening impeachment proceedings against him.
The commission noted that the allegations were based on events that had happened before Majauskas was sworn in.
Prosecutors earlier this month started their investigation based on Majauskas’ complaint that “untrue and defamatory information about him was anonymously spread during a TV news program.
The Seimas commission may return to the issue after the prosecutors announce their findings.
In an interview aired by the Info TV station in early March, a young woman, whose name was not disclosed, accused Majauskas of unwelcome sexual behavior toward her in his apartment more than five years ago.
The lawmaker has dismissed the allegation as untrue.
