Seimas committee backs president-proposed version of Labour Code

Seven members of the panel voted on Wednesday in support for the recommendation that the parliament should adopt the Labor Code including the presidential amendments, while two were against and one abstained. The parliament should put the Labour Code to the final vote during plenary on Wednesday afternoon.

In a vote on a vetoed law, the parliament should first decide whether it should keep the version of the Labour Code it adopted back in June – 71 votes in support are needed for the move. If the number of votes in support is insufficient, another ballot will be held to decide on approval of the version proposed by the president. A simple vote majority is enough in this case.
