Agne Širinskienė says that the circumstances surrounding the prosecutor general’s appointment, as allegedly discussed in these emails, could be the subject of a parliamentary investigation.
“There are a lot of questions and I think they need to be answered. (…) CLA could look at all these circumstances,” the chairwoman, a member of the Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union (LVŽS), told BNS.
“I think we’ll discuss our possible steps within the (LVŽS) political group first, but I’m not ruling out initiating an investigation,” she said.
LVŽS Chairman Ramūnas Karbauskis says that it is necessary to find out if the emails published by the daily Lietuvos Rytas are authentic before launching a parliamentary investigation.
Grybauskaitė said earlier in the day that she had had email exchanges with Masiulis, a former Liberal Movement leader and former lawmaker suspected in a political corruption case, but added that she could not confirm the authenticity of the letters published in the media.
