Space technology celebrities gather in Vilnius

77-year-old Bobko is the spaceship engineer, former United States Air Force officer, test pilot and a former astronaut at NASA and United States Air Force. His first visit to the space was in 1983 using spaceship ‘Challenger STS-6’, lead spaceships ‘Discovery STS-51D’and ‘Atlantis STS-51J’.

Other notable space technology speakers include ‘Mars One’ co-founder and CEO Bas Lansdrop, Gary Martin from NASA AMES research center, creator of submarine ‘Nautilus’ Peter Madsen and others.

Participants will be greeted by director of Agency of Science, Innovation and Technology Arūnas Karlonas. “This session is dedicated to creators and innovators, who are not afraid to dream and implement brave ideas. Space technology can be created not only by large companies, but also by SME‘s and start-ups. For instance, Vilnius University start-up ‘Nanoavionika’ was the first space technology start-up in Europe to attract private investment,” says Karlonas.

The event taking place in ‘Litexpo’ on Thursday and Friday is expected to attract more than 500 innovative entrepreneurs, innovators and representatives of international organisations. Special sessions will be dedicated to IP, unmanned aircrafts, bio economy, start-ups and cultural and creative industries

Vilnius Innovation Forum is organized by the Ministry of Economy and Agency of Science, Innovation and Technology. The event is sponsored by the European Regional Development Fund.
