Prosecutor Redas Savickas of the Prosecutor General’s Office has confirmed that because Moiseyenko concealed that he used to be a Russian citizen, he has been stripped of his Lithuanian citizenship.
“A pre-trial investigation has revealed that he was also a citizen of Russia, therefore, he lost his Lithuanian citizenship. He had concealed his Russian citizenship and was even granted visas for trips to Russia. After detention, the Russian Embassy confirmed he was a citizen of Russia. Furthermore, searches revealed hidden documents,” the prosecutor said.
In mid-July, a Šiauliai court opened hearings into an espionage case of Russian citizen Moiseyenko, former Lithuanian Air Force Aviation Base officer, captain Sergejus Pusinas, and another Lithuanian national, Ainas Kazlauskas.
The probe was launched in December 2014 after the Second Investigations Department under the Ministry of National Defence collected information about recruitment of Pusinas by Russian intelligence back in 2012. According to case information, Pusinas collected information for Russia and handed it over via Moiseyenko who, during secret meetings, transmitted the information and specified tasks of the Russian intelligence service on ways of collecting information and technical means of recording such data.
Moiseyenko allegedly paid Pusinas between €500 and €1,000 for the information.
The investigation and searches revealed a large amount of explosives in various locations, as well as cartridges and hand grenades.
