Swedbank to create 400 jobs at new service centre in Lithuania

Swedbank, the Swedish banking group, is opening a non-financial services branch in Lithuania in March. It currently employs 140 people and will additionally hire more than 400 over the next several years. They will be providing services to companies of the Swedbank group, says the bank’s Lithuanian head Dovilė Grigienė.

Swedbank has been moving some of its jobs from Sweden to its markets in the Baltic states. The bank has said it is planning to create 700 new jobs in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia by 2018.

Invest Lithuania, the government’s foreign investment agency, says the new jobs will include positions for finance, IT, client service professionals and managers. Seventy employees have been picked already and will be sent to training in Sweden,” Invest Lithuania director Mantas Katinas says.

Swedbank group currently has over 14,000 employees.
