Rūta Meilutytė EN

Rūta Meilutytė (born March 19, 1997) in Kaunas, is a Lithuanian swimmer. She holds multiple national records.

In the 2012 London Olympic Games, she won the gold medal in breaststroke 100 meter distance. Rūta Meilutytė completed the distance in 1:05.21 and improved the European record held by Russian swimmer Yulia Efimova since 2009 by 0.59 of a second. On 21 May 2019, Rūta announced her retirement from professional sports.
