TIR carnet issuance continues to decline in Lithuania

According to Vidmantas Adomaitis, Secretary General of Linava, the situation was especially hampered by the last week of November, when Russia imposed additional inspections on Lithuanian carriers. 32 percent less TIR carnets were issued in the last week of November 2014, compared with the same period of 2013.

When the data for the first eleven months of 2014 is analysed it is obvious that TIR carnet issuance has declined by 23 percent. Based on the data of International Road and Transport Union (IRU), TIR system freight turnover decrease reached 35 percent throughout the period.
