The group wants a ban on alcohol advertising, an increase in the legal drinking age and restrictions on its sale at only specialised shops.
CEC chairman Zenonas Vaigauskas confirmed that the group’s representative Juozas Dapsauskas submitted a request to register the group and receive forms for collecting signatures.
“If there are at least ten of such citizens, we will register such a group and within five days we will issue them with forms for collecting signatures. After they receive the forms, they will have two months to collect signatures,” Vaigauskas said.
The election watchdog will take a decision by March 8 on registering the group.
For the amendments the group is proposing to be put before the Seimas, the group needs to collect at least 50,000 signatures in two months.
