Inga Ruginienė, chair of the Lithuanian Confederation of Trade Unions, who chairs the Council, said it was agreed to postpone the adoption of this decision for two weeks.
“We made the decision during this sitting to make the final decision during the next meeting and there can be no further postponements,” she said.
The Tripartite Council has tried twice this year to agree on raising the minimum wage. The government proposes increasing it to 420 euros, and trade unions want a raise until 450 euros. Employers say they will back the 420 euro proposal.
The Council only has an advisory say, however, and the final decision will be made by the government.
The minimum wage was raised 20 euros to 400 euros last year.
