Tripartite Council to resume discussion on raising minimum wage

Inga Ruginienė, head of the Lithuanian Confederation of Trade Unions and chairwoman of the council, told BNS last week that trade unions continued to seek that the minimum wage before taxes be increased to 450 euros, from the current 400 euros.

However, Deputy Social Security and Labor Minister Eglė Radišauskienė told BNS that the government would stick to its proposal to raise the minimum wage to 420 euros.

Andrius Romanovskis, vice-president of the Lithuanian Business Confederation, told BNS that his organization saw the proposed increase to 420 euros as a compromise.

The Tripartite Council’s two previous meetings on a minimum wage increase ended without any agreement.
