During a sitting of the party’s council on Saturday, Gabrielius Landsbergis proposed a new party slogan for the upcoming municipal, European Parliament and presidential elections.
He also acknowledged to have already been taunted for the new slogan.
“Those who approached me with a smile, often with an ironic one, asked me “Who were you before that?” … That word came up first during discussions and conversations about the existing political situation in Lithuania,” Landsbergis said on Saturday.
“We now view the “farmers” (the ruling Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union), and the whole ruling majority, its decisions and things we are fighting, they can be in fact described that the ruling majority is now a government party. These are people who want to stay in power at any cost,” the politician explained.
And TS-LKD will become a counterbalance to such a political force.
“And who’s on the other side? It seems to me that it’s a party or community which is on people’s side. It’s a party that stands together with people and wants to help people. That party, that community wants to represent those people,” Landsbergis said.
