Two Lithuanian MEPs left free agents after collapse of eurosceptic EP group

Paksas and Mazuronis spoke to BNS a few hours after factual collapse of the Europe of Freedom and Direct Democracy (EFDD) group headed by Britain’s Nigel Farage following withdrawal of a Latvian politician.

“I am not yet considering the possibility [of going to another group]. The decision, if needed, will be made on Monday. Until then everything is status quo,” Paksas said.

Mazuronis seconded his opinion: “It is still too early to say that the group has collapsed.”

Farage’s UK Independence Party wants Great Britain to leave the European Union and impose restrictions of immigration. The party has lately gained more popularity with British voters.

Farage has also repeatedly stated support to Russia’s politics and accused the West for the situation in Ukraine.
