Ukrainian pilot Savchenko pledges to come to Lithuania

“I would very much want to come to every neighbouring country. I hope to come see you too, but I will not have time for everything during my first month or day of freedom. But I will come,” Savchenko told BNS in a telephone interview from Kiev.

Last week, Savchenko was released from prison in Russia in a deal which saw her exchanged for two Russian soldiers Alexander Alexandrov and Yevgeniy Yerofeyev. The two were convicted in Ukraine for participating in armed fighting in the separatist eastern regions of the country.

Savchenko herself was convicted in Russia for alleged involvement in the killing of two Russian journalists.
