Eleonora Budzinauskienė who has served in the position until now will now proceed as Valatka’s deputy.
Valatka said his main objective was to ensure high-level professional end ethical standards of journalism, while implementing the agency’s ambitious development plans.
“I am taking the office after reaching common grounds with the agency’s new owner on the fundamental provisions on ensuring the spread of the most operative and the most reliable news,” the new editor-in-chief said in a press release.
Valatka who has been active in Lithuania’s media life for 39 years has worked as editor-in-chief at n ews portal s 15min.lt and lrytas.lt, as well as the magazine Veidas. He has lately had weekly broadcasts on Info TV television and the Žinių Radijas news radio, having a column on delfi.lt news portal. Valatka pledged to continue the latter work.
