Vilnius endorses plans to break up Roma settlement

The goals of the programme are eliminating drug dealing which is rampant in the Roma settlement, as well as helping Roma people integrate into the job market and their children into schools. A separate rehabilitation programme is intended for addicts who frequent the settlement in search of drugs.

Vice-Mayor Gintautas Paluckas has said the municipality wants to move 40 families and all 94 pre-school children out of the settlement within three years.
