In the first half of 2014, most tourists (458,400) were accommodated in Vilnius County, followed by Klaipėda (192,300), Alytus (140,700) and Kaunas (133,800) Counties.
60.9 percent of all foreign tourists stayed in accommodation establishments of Vilnius County. 12.5 percent of foreigners stayed in accommodation establishments in Klaipėda, 11.9 percent in Kaunas and 9.1 percent in Alytus.
Most guests (424,200) stayed in accommodation establishments of Vilnius city. For comparison, the total population of the Lithuanian capital is about 540,000.
During the period in question, as many as 86 percent of all tourists stayed in accommodation establishments of major cities and resorts. 642,000 or 61.9 percent of all guests stayed in accommodation establishments of major cities, Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda, Šiauliai and Panevėžys. 469,400 of them or 80 percent were foreigners.
