Sources tell DELFI that police have searched the premises of two schools, Vilnius Vasily Kachyalov Gymnasium and Vilnius Sofia Kovalevska Secondary School, on Wednesday. The State Security Department has refused to make any comments about the searches.
The two schools have caught the attention of law enforcement institutions following media reports about their students taking part in paramilitary camps organized by the Russian government.
Prosecutor Rita Aliukonienė of Vilnius District Prosecutor’s Office has told DELFI that the searches in the two Russian-speaking schools are related to an ongoing investigation into their students’ participation in the paramilitary camps.
She says that charges have not been brought against anyone yet.
