The European Cardiology Association‘s data shows that while Lithuanian women live 10 years longer, cardiovascular diseases remain the most common cause of death in Lithuania and around the world.
Lithuania’s Heart Association president Raimundas Kubilius, about half of deaths in Lithuania are caused by cardiovascular diseases.
He said people should be more concerned about their way of life: and should give up tobacco, be physically active, eat vegetables, and monitor the state of their health.
“Total cholesterol levels should not be higher than 5 mil per liter. We should try not to have excess weight and avoid diabetes,” said Kubilius.
