Winners of Lithuania’s science prizes announced

The recipients are Gytis Juška, Kęstutis Arlauskas and Kristijonas Genevičius, awarded for their research on materials, Eugenijus Norkus for his work in chemistry, Virgilijus Ulozas for research of treating larynx diseases.

Other recipients are Julius Žilinskas, whose research focuses on optimization algorithms, Vytautas Levandauskas for his work on masonry and Artūras Tereškinas for work on cultural sociology and cultural studies.

“There are two criteria for granting the prize. The first and foremost – the work has to meet high scholarly standard,” Juras Banys, the chairman of the award commission, told BNS on Monday in comment of the commission’s decision to award six instead of the possible seven prizes.
