World Lithuanians: we’ll take dual citizenship path together with the government

“For the possibility to preserve citizenship to become a reality, political agreement and political will are needed. The Seimas, the president and the government need to come together and make that decision,” Rimvydas Baltaduonis, co-chairman of the Commission of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania and the Lithuanian World Community, representing the Lithuanian American Community, told a press conference on Friday.

“Which path to choose is for the Lithuanian leaders to decide, and we will always support a united decision. We will definitely not sacrifice unity and will support that decision the Lithuanian leaders will make”, Baltaduonis said.

Meanwhile Dalia Henke, head of the Lithuanian World Community, said agreement between Lithuania’s top leaders and all political parties was needed for a successful referendum as 1.3 million “yes” votes would be necessary.
