Dalia Kuodytė, a members of the Seimas Committee on Human Rights and one of the law’s initiators, told LRT Radio that people who have suffered from domestic violence have become bolder about reporting it and expecting help.
Five years ago, a law passed by the Seimas obligated the government to quickly respond to domestic threats, employ preventative and protective measures, and offer help where necessary. However, the goals the law strives for are still a challenge, as the law does not always work.
