Baltic PMs ask Polish counterpart and EC president to find solution for GIPL financing

Government leaders of the three countries on Friday sent a respective letter to Jean-Claude Juncker and Ewa Kopacz.

“As far as the letter is concerned, we agreed on that with the prime ministers of Latvia and Estonia on Apr. 10, during the meeting of the Baltic prime ministers of the Baltic Council of Ministers in Vilnius. We hope the Polish Prime Minister will take into consideration the financing of this project, which is important for all four countries,” Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius said in a press release.

According to the press release, the solution for GIPL financing is expected to be found by mid-May.

The letter also said that the synchronization of electricity systems of the Baltic countries with the respective system of continental Europe remained one of the key priorities.
