According to the arrangement, the Czech Republic will delegate one subject-matter expert to the Strategic Analysis and Research Division of the NATO ENSEC COE as of 1 March.
The ceremony was also attended by Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Lithuania Bohumil Mazanek, Chairman of the Steering Committee Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Andrius Krivas, and other guests.
Currently, the NATO ENSEC COE is manned with Estonian, Georgian, Italian, British, Latvian, Lithuanian, French and Turkish subject-matter experts. The United States of America is also expected to join the NATO ENSEC COE as a Sponsoring nation by the end of the year.
The NATO ENSEC COE was established in July 2012 by an agreement among the establishing nations endorsed at the Allied Command Transformation at Norfolk (US). In October 2012 it was granted the status of an international military organisation by the North Atlantic Council when accreditation procedures were completed.
The NATO ENSEC COE’s objectives are the following: to analyse aspects of military energy efficiency and security and protection of critical energy infrastructure, to provide advice and recommendations on operational energy security, application of alternative energy resources in warfare and development of environment-friendly military capabilities, and to join training and exercises.
