Disabled people congratulate Lithuania on it‘s 100th birthday!

“Every year we try not only to maintain strong traditions or format of the event, but also to give new touches to the celebration. This year is especially important for our organization – we are starting the fourth decade of our activity and I can strongly say that we have done a lot of significant things during all these years! Although, a lot of difficult but meaningful work awaits us in the future. Every year for annual celebration in the Talačkoniai village gathers a very large part of the community of the disabled people were they celebrate, enjoy and discusses last year’s work and new emerging challenges. Moreover, this year we thought that we can’t ignore another important event – the celebration of 100 years of restored Lithuania! So the idea was to combine two important, individual events and to make one big, joyful and beautiful celebration!” said the chairman of the Association for the Physically Disabled of Lithuania Jelena Ivančenko.

This year there were traditional music performances, dances, workshops, expositions, everyone will be regaled with porridge. This year a lot of honorable guests from the Ministry of Social Security and Labor of the Republic of Lithuania, Pasvalys District Municipality and other non-governmental organizations are to gather in Talačkoniai. At the event, all the guests will be invited to form a number “100” and loudly congratulate Lithuania – “Happy Birthday, Lithuania!”

“Whole process and celebration was filmed using drones because we wanted to capture everything from above. Besides traditional handcraft workshops and other activities, during the celebration, guests were invited to say short greeting speeches to Lithuania and its people. From this video material, we will make a shot video clip, which we are going to present to the ministries and to her excellence president of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė. We wanted to contribute to the events of the 100th anniversary of restored Lithuania and to show that people with disabilities are also proud to live in Lithuania, work here and do not forget the country’s birthday!” J.
