Entitled “The State Secret,” the documentary is based on archival material and interviews with the president and representatives of her closest circle.

“Some people appreciate her, others dislike her. Some love her, others curse her,” Ulvydas told reporters at a press conference while presenting his new film.

According to the director, inspiring leadership, which prompts one to shake off unnecessary fears and encourages self-confidence, is the main message of the new documentary.

The director said that the idea of creating the movie originated a couple of years ago. Public interest in movies about the world’s most prominent personalities, such as Greg Barker’s Barack Obama documentary “The Final Year,” has been growing recently, Ulvydas explained.

In one of her interviews made during the filming process, Grybauskaitė pledged to attend the premiere of the film, Ulvydas said.

The premiere will take place one month before the scheduled May 12 presidential elections in Lithuania.
