According to Global BOD Group, exports to Indonesia discussed will reach €150 million over three years.
In 2014, the group began developing solar power plant and factory construction projects in South Africa, Malaysia and India. Now, it is making investment inroads into Indonesia, a country with a population of over 250 million people and whose GDP is supported primarily by the export of liquefied natural gas.
A smart city is currently being built in Cirebon that will also have two solar plants that together will provide 10 megawatts of power.
According to Vidmantas Janulevičius, the chairman of the group’s board, once these two plants have been constructed and have demonstrated their competitive advantage, the Cirebon province will also build a 100-megawatt power plant, and the general value of the project will be between €140 and €150 million.
Janulevičius also said that Lithuanian industrialists see large business development opportunities in South-East Asia – Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Laos. These countries together represent a population of more than 600 million.
“Though China is closer, we have often been disappointed by their industry and the quality of their products,” said Purwadi, a former military official who recently made the transition to civil service. “The solar power sector is no exception. Japanese technology is attractive, but it is much more expensive than European technology.”
