Ex-health minister gets high-ranking job with Kazakh university

Pavalkis told BNS that Kazakhstan‘s university had chosen him due to his experience at the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (LMSU).

The man currently heads the Innovation Assessment and Deployment Department at LSMU’s Kaunas Clinics and is professor at its Surgery Clinic. He is also a member of a group of advisers for Carlos Moedas, the European Commissioner for research, science and innovation.

He said that he would work in Almaty for at least two years and would be responsible for reforming medical studies.

Pavalkis, a medical doctor by profession, held the post of Lithuania’s education and science minister between 2012 and 2015.
