Food Union to reduce prices for dairy products in Latvia

As the business information portal Nozare.lv was informed by Normunds Stanevics, the chairman of one of the concern’s companies joint-stock Rigas piena kombinats, the lower prices will come into force starting from next week.

Prices will be reduced for all Food Group brands – Valmieras Piens, Rasa, Lakto, Limbazu piens and Rasens, and will include milk, kefir, cream, butter, cottage cheese, yoghurt and other dairy products. The prices of these products will be cut by 15 to 30%.

At the same time, Stanevics urged retailers to increase the number of local products sold at their stores, as well as to ensure that they also reduce the retail price of these products.

“This is a tough time for the Latvian dairy market and for farmers, as well as for producers and retailers. We must all show solidarity with one another in order to increase the consumption of our products on the local market,” he said.
