Linkevičius also drew attention to the fact that the volume of bilateral trade between Lithuania and Azerbaijan rose 40 percent over the first eight months of this year.
“The minister underlined that Lithuanian dairy products are well-known to consumers in Azerbaijan, and he also expressed hope that high-quality Lithuanian meat products would also successfully reach the Azeri market. The need to continue looking for new opportunities for economic, trade and investment cooperation was also underlined during the meetings,” Lithuania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
Azerbaijan was also invited to get actively involved in the Vikingas container train project. The train joins the Baltic and Black Seas and is an attractive, fast and inexpensive means to export Azeri goods to Europe.
The meetings also touched upon opportunities to cooperate in the area of energy.
