The minister described as inappropriate the practice of prosecuting people for helping women to give birth at home.
“I think that the practice of prosecuting people who helped those babies to be born at home is not a proper way of solving the problem. All the more as because this phenomenon exists de facto: people give birth at home,” he told reporters.
“We will not sacrifice the safety of either babies or their mothers, but we will look at the good practices of other countries,” he said.
