Ignitis Polska starting to trade with Dutch gas trading platform TTF

Ignitis Polska, which is a subsidiary company of Ignitis, started 2021 with international development. The company started trading in the Dutch gas trading platform TTF in mid-February, according to Ignitis press release.

“Our business strategy in Poland is directed towards the development of both the business segment and activity diversification. The start of trading in the Dutch gas trading platform TTF is a very important step towards implementing objectives set out in the strategy – Ignitis Polska is becoming a player not only in the Polish market but in the markets of other European countries as well.

For four years we are operating in the Polish and Scandinavian wholesale energy markets successfully and, starting from the second half of 2020, we offer Polish business customers electricity and gas supply services. Thus, ensuring the direct access to the TTF platform became a very important task for us, in order to continue to strengthen the company’s position in the market”, said the General Manager and Chair of the Board of Ignitis Polska Diana Kazakevič.

In 2019 Ignitis Polska entered the Polish wholesale gas market and joined the Nasdaq Commodities OMX, operating in Scandinavia, thus expanding the wholesale electricity portfolio in the region. Nasdaq Commodities OMX exchange offers derivatives related to electricity prices in Scandinavia, Germany, Netherlands, the United Kingdom and the Baltics. The exchange offerings also include electricity certificates as well as coal, natural gas, fuel oil and seafood derivatives.
