Aurėlija Vernickaitė, an advisor to Energy Minister Žygimantas Vaičiunas, told BNS that topics to be discussed during Thursday’s meeting included the Baltic power grids’ synchronization with the Continental European system.
“During his visit to Lithuania, the Latvian deputy prime minister and economics minister will discuss with the energy minister the project for the synchronization of the Baltic electricity systems with European networks,” Vernickaitė said.
They will also discuss “restricting market access to the Lithuanian and EU market for electricity from third countries where unsafe nuclear power plants operate or are being built,” she said.
On Friday, Vaičiunas and Aseradens will travel to Klaipėda to be shown around the floating storage and regasification unit and to discuss issues regarding the creation of the regional gas market.
