The corresponding decree was signed by President Dalia Grybauskaitė. The head of state signed the decree following the Constitution and taking into consideration the proposal of the Government. Ambassador Kairienė will assume office on 7 April.
Kairienė’s diplomatic career began at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1994 at the Department of Economics. Later she worked in numerous departments of the ministry. In 2005-2006 she headed the European Countries’ Department of the MFA. In 2006-2011 she was the ambassador of Lithuania in Denmark. In 2011-2014 she headed the State and Diplomatic Protocol Department of the MFA. Since 2014 Kairienė has been Lithuania’s Ambassador to Hungary.
